The Altar Servers group is for boys and men interested in assisting the Priests and Deacons in all Liturgical Services.
Care Calendar for Food and Rides to Church
The Care Calendar is a web based system to organize meals and other assistance for families during a time of illness or a life changing event, such as the birth of a baby, family illness, death of a family member, or helping homebound seniors get to church.
The Care Calendar can also be used for long-term situations, including homebound and caregiver needs. If you would like to be informed of CareCalendar needs, or if you are available to give someone a ride to church, participate in this ministry.
Care for Troops
Care packages and correspondences for our military personnel serving abroad and at home.
A group for people interested in chanting and reading at different Liturgical Services. This group would concentrate mainly on the Byzantine style of liturgical singing. Participants also receive recorded music via email on a regular basis.
The Choir leads the congregation during the Divine Liturgy, weekday Liturgies, Saturday Vespers, as well as many weddings.
Coffee Hour Ministry
The Sunday Coffee Hour is an important ministry of St Michael Orthodox Church. It is the primary place of fellowship following the Divine Liturgy. It has been the custom for individuals, families, and groups to sponsor the Coffee Hour. This is a group for people who are interested in keeping our church property beautiful. There are different dates and times throughout the year in which the this team works on the gardening needs of our property.
Helping out with the not so big maintenance needs of the parish. If you’ve been heard saying at home, “We can do this!” then this ministry is perfect for you.
A group of the parish partnered with Dare to Care Food Pantry which comes together once a month to distribute bags of food to the greater Louisville community.
Home Schooling Ministry
A group of home school families from the parish who meet for joint education classes and support.
Helping to prepare and serve meals to families following a parishioner funeral.
A group interested in participating in mission fundraising and parish-wide mission trips.
Orthodox Christian Coalition for Healthy Youth
OCCHY is a national substance abuse prevention network established under the Department of Youth Ministry in the Antiochian Orthodox Christian Archdiocese. They are an independent, non-profit, national organization of coalitions for healthy youth. They are a network of local Orthodox Communities across the United States dedicated to educating young people and their families to create living environments that are fun, safe and healthy for parents to raise their children.
Red Cross Blood Drive
A convenient way to donate a pint of blood for the Red Cross. Every 2-3 months, our parish hosts the Red Cross Bloodmobile.
Retreat Support and Hospitality
There are three aspects to this ministry team.
1) People who are able to house different guests of our parish (ie. retreat leaders, guest clergy, out of town participants, etc.) and possibly assist in getting them to and from the events
2) People who would like to be part of the registration team and welcoming participants at reatreats
3) People who would like to help to organize, prepare and present refreshments and meals at our retreats
A group that participates and supports the fellowship events at the Holy Trinity Senior Housing such as the monthly luncheon, game night, movie night and possible field trips.
St Maria Skobtsova Visitation Ministry
This is a group which was originally formed by the St. Michael Ladies Society. It has now blossomed into a ministry open to all people in the parish interested in visiting our parishioners who are shut-ins and in nursing homes.
Be a part of the visitation group that welcomes new members to St Michael’s and the Louisville community. Participants will make home visits to deliver a welcoming care package, and answer questions about the Liturgical life of St Michael’s, education opportunities, and available ministry teams.
Welfare Fund and Healing Place
This ministry supplies the Healing Place and other critical programs with Back to School Supplies, Gifts at Christmas, and supplemental gifts throughout the year.
